  • Virender Sehwag blasted India's fastest ODI hundred as the visitors swept to a comprehensive win that secured their maiden one-day series triumph in New Zealand. Sehwag reached three-figures off 60 balls with a signature six and his awe-inspiring hitting overshadowed Gautam Gambhir's near run-a-ball half-century. Daniel Vettori and the rest of the New Zealand bowlers were powerless in the face of the onslaught and what had seemed a challenging target was chased down with ridiculous ease. Even the two stoppages due to rain couldn't stem the run-deluge with Sehwag completing his century as early as the 18th over.

    Terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan's

  • Six Sri Lankan cricketers were injured on Tuesday and five of their bodyguards killed in the first-ever deadly terrorist ambush in the history of the sport, forcing Colombo to immediately call off the tour.

    Among the players injured in the attack at the busy Liberty Chowk traffic roundabout, located less than a kilometre from the Gaddafi Stadium at 9 am, were captain Mahela Jayawardene, star wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara, mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweeraand Tharanga Paranavitana.

    While Samaraweera and Paranavitana received bullet wounds, the others besides the head coach Trevor Bayliss sustained minor injuries, Pakistan Cricket Board officials were quoted by Dawn news channel as saying
